New York/Hamburg.  In der Studenten- und Fahrradstadt Münster ist Ute Lemper geboren und gelegentlich noch zu Gast. Wir erwischen die 53 Jahre alte Sängerin zum Telefoninterview in ihrem Zuhause in New York, wo sie seit gut 20 Jahren lebt. Manhattan, Upper Westside, nah am Central Park. “Ich bewege mich gerade vom Küchentisch auf die Couch”, sagt sie. Zuvor hat sie noch einem italienischen Journalisten ein Interview gegeben, das dauerte etwas länger – aber nicht, weil sie es auf Französisch geführt hatte…

“Songs for Eternity”. Canzoni per l’eternità: per non dimenticare la Shoah. Nell’occasione delle celebrazioni dei 70 anni del Piccolo Teatro, Ute Lemper porta a Milano allo Stabile dove tante volte si è esibita in recital (la prima volta con il repertorio da Weill nel 1991, l’ultima eseguendo Piazzolla nel 2010) un concerto che è un pezzo di storia sua personale e dell’umanità. Le canzoni che interpreta sono infatti frutto di una trentennale ricerca alla scoperta della tradizione musicale generata negli anni della grande mattanza nazista in cui si parla di campi di sterminio, ghetti, razzismo, sopravvivenza…
